Stride

 2022

Work selected for the Short Waves / Long Distance program which aired as part of the  Shortwave Shindig, a multi-hour celebration of shortwave history, art, and culture held at the remote Winter SWLFest .

Listening to short-wave radio is like traveling a long path. There are times where the path is sinuous and loud other times silent and flat. You have to be patient. There are times when you hear people other times all you hear are atmospheric sounds and you are all alone. No human presence. The same path changes in accordance to atmospheric phenomena and time of day. Always something new around the corner. Learning to adapt your stride to the path.

Selected for Liminal Sounds annual open submissions are featured around a curator-devised theme "What is not a map?"

CircuitEveryday we cross electrical magnetic paths. Invisible boundaries affecting all that it surrounds with concealed interference. Electric fields detected using coils. A process called induction. Mapping electromagnetic paths to understand the complex web of interference surrounding us. Listening to electrical fields is like listening to the invisible.

Lurker

 2019
Selected for Liminal Sounds annual open submissions are featured around a curator-devised theme "Retreat, Disappearance"

LurkerThe word lurker with all of its negative connotations has always fascinated me. Although it became mainstream with the internet, its origin is much older. But why should it have negative connotations? Why can it be just someone who listens, observes and contributes when he or she thinks it’s opportune?

Today we are much too worried of not being heard that we are pressured to contribute ideas without first thinking things through. So let’s lurk, observe and listen.
